Pre-primary education falls under the government’s responsibility. The aim of pre-primary education (early childhood education and development, ECED) is to provide a healthy environment for enhancing the social, cognitive and spiritual development of children, and to educate the caregivers to the needs of the young generation. Although over 90% of the age group attend school pre-primary education is not compulsory in Grenada and is available to children aged three to five.
