Grenada was represented at the 1st Meeting of the New Regional Convention.
On April 13-14, Grenada was represented at the 1st Meeting of the New Regional Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay.
The agreement will facilitate #StudentMobility within the region.
Currently, 5 States have ratified the New Convention: Cuba, Grenada, Uruguay, the Holy See and Peru.
By ratifying the Regional Convention, Grenada has made a commitment to:
a) Reinforce regional cooperation in post- secondary education,
b) Improve the quality of its national post-secondary education provision,
c) Support academic mobility
d) Make the recognition of qualifications a reality for every individual wanting to access post-secondary education.
Mrs. Dhana Mc Quilkin, from the Grenada National Accreditation Board (GNAB), along with colleagues from Cuba, Uruguay and the Holy See, presented on the topic: Recognition of Foreign Diplomas: Main obstacles to overcome for a full implementation of the New Regional Convention (2019).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, the ratifying States (Cuba, Grenada, Holy See, and Uruguay), the 19 signatory States, UNESCO Headquarters, the Secretariat of the New Regional Convention exercised by UNESCO IESALC, and UNESCO Montevideo.
